Colfax International Announces Adoption Of Dual-Core AMD Opteron™ Processor
Models 885 And 285
Sunnyvale, CA --
Colfax International, a leading builder of highly customized high-performance computing systems, today announced the adoption of the newly launched Dual-Core AMD Opteron™ processor Models 885 and 285 with Direct Connect Architecture. Available across Colfax International’s line of thermally efficient servers and workstations, the newest AMD Opteron processors fit within platforms based on the existing 95-watt power infrastructure offering improved performance/watt, while also supporting AMD PowerNow!™ technology with Optimized Power Management.
“With the availability of the Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor Models 885 and 285 with Colfax systems, Colfax International now expands its AMD64 dual-core product line offering to our customer base,” said Mike Fay, Vice President, Colfax International. “As a result, customers can take advantage of this industry-transforming native dual-core technology to further amplify performance and efficiency on a diverse selection of Colfax servers and workstations.”
The AMD64 dual-core processors maximize performance by enabling operating systems to prioritize and manage tasks from multiple applications simultaneously. Two cores offer more physical resources to support multi-tasking and multithreaded environments, which is very important on high-performance computing platforms. In addition, AMD dual-core technology enables users to increase their computing capacity without increasing power requirements, providing the best performance-per-watt ratio in the industry.
“As an AMD Platinum Solutions Provider, Colfax International is focused on delivering the latest technology to help its customers reach new levels of performance," said Pat Patla, director, Server/Workstation Marketing, AMD (NYSE: AMD). “Incorporating the latest AMD Opteron processors across a multitude of Colfax platforms benefits enterprises and compute-intensive environments with AMD’s Direct Connect Architecture and native dual-core processing that deliver leading-edge performance and performance-per-watt gains."
