MALAYSIA, KUALA LUMPUR -- 3/16/2006 -- AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced that the Malaysia Ministry of Education’s Info-communication Technology project will equip science and mathematics teachers with AMD processor-based tools to conduct lessons. As part of the Science & Mathematics in English (Teaching & Learning) Project, TIME Systems Integrators Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of TIME Engineering Berhad, will supply more than 15,000 Acer, HP and NEC notebooks, featuring both AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology and the Mobile AMD Sempron™ processor. TIME Systems Integrators Sdn Bhd is the exclusive system integrator partner appointed by the Ministry of Education for the PPSMI Project. They will test, service and implement all notebooks for science and mathematics teachers countrywide.

As part of Malaysia’s mission to continue developing a world-class education system to realize the full potential of the individual and fulfill the nation’s aspiration, the project is significant for the education sector. Customized courseware will be provided and used with these notebooks for teachers to use them to conduct more interesting and engaging lessons. They will be able to enjoy advanced technological features such as AMD PowerNow!™ Technology, which extends battery life without compromising performance; and Enhanced Virus Protection*, which enables the protection of applications and associated files from memory buffer overrun attacks. “AMD is proud to assist Malaysia in these efforts to improve the classroom tools, and we applaud the Ministry of Education for delivering the best to these students and teachers,” said Bryan Low, vice president, sales and marketing, South Asia, AMD. “Through our collaboration with NEC, HP and Acer, classrooms will be equipped with some of the most powerful personal computing technology available today – offering proof of AMD’s shared commitment to the education of Malaysian students, and the importance of fair and open competition.”

“Malaysia’s transformation into a knowledge-based economy has started at all levels, especially the K12 education sector. The inclusion of the AMD-based notebooks in this project is a move to expose and equip teachers with new technologies in-line with the Government’s aspiration to adopt various technologies in ICT-based teaching and learning to all schools,” said Encik Amiruddin Abdul Aziz, managing director, TIME Engineering Berhad.
