8/15/2006 --
Accelerated Servers, a leading technology provider of powerful computing systems and high-throughput storage systems, today announced a new product line powered by Next-Generation AMD Opteron™ processors. Leveraging AMD64 technology with Direct Connect Architecture, Accelerated Servers expects improved performance and faster memory access from its computing and storage cluster offerings.
"Next-Generation AMD Opteron processors are designed to provide world-class performance for our clients," said Eric Moore, Vice President, Accelerated Servers. "As a result, they can work to fulfill their critical missions without compromising total cost of ownership (TCO)."
Next-Generation AMD Opteron processors with energy-efficient DDR2 memory and AMD PowerNow!™ technology capabilities define a new standard in performance-per-watt. This is increasingly important for cluster deployments in power constrained environments. Accelerated Servers plans to build and deploy several clusters using this new technology.
“AMD applauds Accelerated Servers for leveraging proven AMD64 technology to offer their customers innovative computing solutions,” said Pat Patla, Director, Server/Workstation Marketing, AMD (NYSE: AMD). “Next-Generation AMD Opteron processors are designed to provide a seamless upgrade path to quad-core technology in 2007.
