NextComputing Incorporates Next-Generation AMD Opteron™ Processors Into its FlexTop, Portable Graphics Workstation
Unique Graphics Workstation Solution Combines Portability, Functionality and Compute-Intensive Performance
Nashua, New Hampshire --
8/15/2006 --
NextComputing today announced the latest version of the NextDimension, a FlexTop, high performance mobile workstation with extreme graphics computing and throughput. Supporting Next-Generation AMD Opteron™ processors with energy-efficient DDR2 memory and outstanding AMD PowerNow!™ technology capabilities, the NextDimension is more capable of performing compute-intensive applications, storing large amounts of critical data, and decreasing total cost of ownership (TCO).
The NextDimension delivers AMD64 technology in a small form factor, empowering end-users with increased performance and energy-efficiency, while minimizing real estate needs.
NextComputing has aligned itself with AMD’s roadmap as they continue to develop a robust virtualization ecosystem that provides users with innovation and choice.
“With Next-Generation AMD Opteron processors, NextComputing’s customers can expect increased performance-per-watt and compute-intensive capabilities in a mobile solution,” said Bob Labadini, president and CTO, NextComputing. “Our latest FlexTop offering reinforces our mission statement to provide ever-improving functionality and flexibility in its small, portable workstation designs.”
The NextDimension is designed as a
portable, desktop-replacement system to provide
CAD/CAM,
Oil and Gas,
DCC, and visualization markets with the ability to perform compute intensive 3D graphics applications in a much smaller form factor. The workstation supports next-generation AMD Opteron 2000 Series HE processors, as well as several new features, including the availability of Dual NVIDIA Quadro® FX 3500 graphic boards by PNY Technologies, Inc., SLI enabled, and a new
HydraGraphics 6-display configuration which utilizes the onboard
ATI Radeon® graphics controller and two
NVIDIA Quadro® FX 3500 boards by PNY Technologies, Inc. to power this multiple display option.
NextComputing also offers a line of semi-rugged mobile workstations, incorporating all of the features of the NextDimension with the added benefit of adaptability to harsh environments. The
Vigor line is targeted towards
Military/Intelligence and
Oil/Gas applications that require deployment into the field.
With the addition of AMD Opteron processors with DDR2, the
NextDimension and
Vigor product lines are able to leverage proven technologies, adding further performance-per-watt enhancements and improved business capabilities by enhancing efficient dual-core capabilities, low-power/high-bandwidth DDR2 memory, AMD Virtualization support, and quad-core upgradeability.
“The collaboration between NextComputing and AMD has brought the functionality and extreme graphics performance of a stand-alone workstation into a unique, portable computing solution,” said Pat Patla, director, Server/Workstation Marketing, AMD (NYSE: AMD). “Next-generation AMD Opteron processors with Direct Connect Architecture and DDR2 support deliver industry-leading performance-per-watt to enable advanced business computing platforms.”
