AMD Honors LAM Research And Solvay Interox For Outstanding Performance As Suppliers



SUNNYVALE, CA -- 5/16/2002 -- AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced it has presented "2001 World Class Supplier" awards to two companies, LAM Research and Solvay Interox. LAM Research was recognized as "Etch Supplier of the Year," and Solvay Interox was recognized for "World Class Service."

The AMD World Class Supplier Program is designed to drive leadership in technology, quality and logistics for AMD, its suppliers and its customers. AMD suppliers are scored on multiple criteria including technology, quality, cost, flexibility, and service excellence.

"AMD believes it is important to acknowledge suppliers who excel," said Alex Brown, Vice President of Corporate Supply Management. "Meeting AMD's supply chain management requirements can be challenging, and we rely upon superior execution and commitment from supplier partners. We salute Solvay Interox and Lam Research for truly outstanding performance."

Lam Research, based in Fremont, California, manufactures semiconductor equipment for AMD Fab 25 in Austin, Texas, Fab 30 in Dresden, Germany, and AMD's Submicron Development Center in Sunnyvale, California. Solvay Interox, based in Houston, Texas, received the World Class Service Award for establishing and maintaining exceptional performance for Fabs 25 and 30. Solvay Interox manufactures chemicals used in semiconductor wafer manufacturing.
