MonarchComputer.com Announces Availability of Custom Systems Featuring 1.33GHz AMD Athlon™ Processors

Atlanta, GA, USA -- 3/20/2001 -- Monarch Computer.com announced today the addition of the 1.33GHz AMD Athlon™ processor and Double Data Rate (or DDR) memory to the custom system builder on their website.

Currently these products are only available in custom-built systems, with pre-built system configurations pending. Custom-built systems from Monarch's website require about 2 weeks to build and ship to the customer.

"The mainstay of our company has been our ability to offer the latest technology at affordable prices to consumers," said Richard Harris, CEO of MonarchComputer.com. "With the release of the original AMD Athlon™ processor, AMD raised the bar for speed and performance in microprocessors while maintaining the highest standards of reliability and compatibility in the market. The 1.33GHz AMD Athlon™ processor is an outstanding example of AMD's commitment to quality and performance. Adding this processor to our online custom system configurator gives consumers and businesses the choices they need whether they are building a corporate network, small office/home-office, or their own ultimate gaming system."

About the AMD Athlon™ Processor
The AMD Athlon™ processor is an x86-compatible, seventh-generation design featuring a superpipelined, nine-issue superscalar microarchitecture optimized for high clock frequency; the industry's first fully pipelined, superscalar floating point unit for x86 platforms; high-performance cache architecture, now featuring 384KB of total on-chip cache (256KB of on-chip level (L2) cache and 128KB of on-chip level (L1) cache); enhanced 3DNow!™ technology with 24 additional instructions designed to improve integer math calculations, data movement for Internet streaming, and DSP communications. The AMD Athlon processor features either a 266MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) or a 200MHz FSB based on the Alpha™ EV6 bus protocol. AMD Athlon processors are manufactured using AMD's 0.18-micron process technology in Fab 25 in Austin, Texas and AMD's 0.18-micron copper technology in Fab 30 in Dresden, Germany. "At AMDMB.com, we test a large variety of processors and systems using the latest in 3D Gaming and productivity benchmarks," said Ryan Shrout, owner and operator of AMDMB.com, "The 1.33GHz AMD Athlon™ processor combined with DDR memory has the potential to be our best PC system performer yet."
