AUSTIN, TX --
8/13/2002 --
Lane15 Software, Inc., the leading provider of InfiniBand® fabric management software, today announced plans for Lane15™ fabric management products to support the upcoming AMD Opteron™ and AMD Athlon™ processors with Hammer technology. Lane15 intends to certify that Lane15 InfiniBand fabric management products, including the Lane15 Fabric Manager™, Lane15 Application Enabler™ and the Lane15 Fabric Console™, will all interoperate with the upcoming AMD Opteron™ and AMD Athlon™ processors.
“Enterprise class customers can benefit from Lane15 and AMD products through using the native 32 bit support of the x86-64 architecture for seamless migration and gaining performance improvement from Lane15 InfiniBand products as the InfiniBand 64 bit support fits well into a 64 bit architecture,” said Terry Dickson, vice president of marketing at Lane15 Software.
InfiniBand architecture, a new system area interconnect fabric, offers enterprise computing centers higher levels of service with the same or fewer resources. Lane15’s extensible fabric computing management products offer OEMs a way to bring InfiniBand products to the enterprise computing market without requiring them to be experts in InfiniBand technology. Enterprise computing applications such as financial modeling, risk management, engineering design and medical research can all benefit from the increased scalability, reliability and availability InfiniBand offers.
“The interoperability between Lane15 management products and the upcoming
AMD Opteron™ and Athlon™ processors will provide enterprise class customers greater choices when they implement InfiniBand fabric computing solutions,” said Rich Heye, vice president, platform engineering and infrastructure, AMD’s Computation Products Group. “Because of the x86-64 architecture in our processors, and the flexible nature of InfiniBand, they will also be able to protect their IT investment through using these products with their future computing strategies.”
