AMD Releases AlertIT™ Desktop Management Software

SUNNYVALE, CA -- 2/14/2000 -- AMD today introduced AlertIT™ software, a system management application that monitors critical functions of networked PCs and automatically alerts system administrators to potential problems before they occur.

The AlertIT™ software, available free of charge, can be customized to trigger alerts based on critical events such as chassis intrusion or loss of a network link. The AlertIT™ software can also notify administrators of changes in motherboard-related voltages, temperatures, fan speeds and disk drive space parameters that exceed or fall below pre-set thresholds. Based on AMD's AlertIT™ technology, the software is designed to lower the total cost of ownership for connected PCs and minimize system downtime.

AlertIT™ software provides industry-standard Desktop Management Interface (DMI) and Common Interface Model (CIM) -based hardware instrumentation, and an easy-to-use Graphical User Interface for client desktops and the server management console. Adhering to CIM standards through Microsoft's Windows® Management Interface (WMI) specification enables web-based management, giving the network administrator the ability to monitor system activity and troubleshoot system issues from any machine on the network.

The AlertIT™ technology is the latest addition to AMD's Managed Performance Portfolio (MPP), a comprehensive suite of technologies designed to improve network and system performance and manageability. The Managed Performance Portfolio, combined with AMD's industry leading networking silicon, such as the PCnet-FAST™ III single-chip 10/100 Mbps Ethernet controller, offers the next generation in connectivity solutions with powerful new features incorporated in an enhanced set of software tools.

AMD's AlertIT™ software supports Microsoft® Windows-based platforms including Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows 95 and Windows NT®. The AlertIT™ software is designed with a modular architecture and operates as a complete and independent management solution. It can also be integrated using script files with the leading management software applications, including Computer Associates Unicenter TNG or Microsoft System Management Server (SMS).

The AlertIT™ technology is a key component of the recently announced Computer Associates Unicenter TNG Desktop Edition product. Unicenter TNG Desktop Edition was jointly developed by AMD and Computer Associates and will be available at no cost from both companies later in the first quarter.

AlertIT™ software is offered free of charge and is available immediately through the AMD field sales organization.
