--AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced it has won top honors in the CRN Channel Champions microprocessor competition. Computer system builders from throughout North America chose AMD over the competition in the microprocessor category.
AMD scored an 82.02 overall satisfaction rating to win the competition, and took top honors in vendor responsiveness and product availability.
The annual Channel Champions event is sponsored by CRN, a leading weekly trade publication for builders of technology solutions. This year, more than 4,000 solution providers rated 67 vendors in 21 high-tech categories. AMD was one of two entrants in the microprocessor category.
"AMD chips are fast and reliable," said Michael Rhea, owner of Mike's Computerland in Lebanon, Va. "We do a lot of our own testing and comparisons. If you set up a system correctly, you can have a 'killer' system with excellent performance."
"We're extremely pleased that AMD has been recognized by system builders, one of our most important market segments, for overall excellence and for our responsiveness to their needs," said Kevin Knox, AMD's director of enterprise segment marketing and business development. "The AMD Athlon™ and AMD Duron™ processors, winners of numerous awards, offer compelling solutions for the desktop and notebook markets with their high-performance, cost-effective Socket A infrastructure. The newly introduced AMD Athlon™ MP processor offers excellent performance and stable infrastructure for the server and workstation markets."
