Border Collie Systems, Inc. To Optimize Software Systems For AMD Platforms

BCSII Aspect Server powered by AMD Athlon™ processors to provide sophisticated, Web-based surveillance applications

Burlingame, CA -- 10/29/2002 -- Border Collie Systems, Inc. (BCSII), a developer of proprietary software systems for central control of electronic devices, today announced that it will optimize its BCSII Dunne.221™ ASPECT (Application Server Platform Evolutionary Controller Technology) Product to take advantage of AMD processor-based platforms. The Dunne.221™ ASPECT Server is a cost-effective, high-quality, expandable Server Utility for home or business based on the Linux Operating System and high-performance AMD Athlon™ XP and AMD Athlon MP processors.

The effort will help foster ongoing enhancement of both AMD Athlon XP and AMD Athlon MP processors and BCSII’s Dunne.221™ ASPECT Server products and software.

“We see the small multi-use Server Utility market as a great opportunity,” said Howard Neckowitz, Founder of BCSII. “We are excited to work with AMD to maximize the capabilities of the Dunne.221™ ASPECT Server. The first application for the Dunne.221™ is remote video surveillance using a web-based, easy-to-use Graphical User Interface.”

“With systems based on AMD Athlon XP and AMD Athlon MP processors, BCSII ASPECT customers have a powerful, reliable platform that allows them to easily monitor site security from the Web,” said Ed Gasiorowski, director of the AMD Infrastructure Enablement Group. “Because of the scalability of AMD processors, customers also have the ongoing option to upgrade their software configurations to accommodate expanding needs.”

About the Dunne.221™ ASPECT Server
BCSII currently offers the Dunne.221™ ASPECT (Application Server Platform Evolutionary Controller Technology), a Server Utility initially providing a sophisticated remote 4-camera video surveillance application. Using a web browser, the system can be accessed for viewing and control anywhere via the internet on almost any web browser enabled device. The concept behind the Dunne.221™ ASPECT is to enable Customers to continually upgrade the software and add new hardware to expand the capabilities of the already installed server. This distinguishes the Dunne.221™ ASPECT from other “single-use” security and surveillance systems. Additional applications in development include energy management, security panel interface protocol, video conferencing, entertainment (content management and distribution) and medical monitoring. The AMD Athlon XP Processor is featured in the base 200 series Dunne model while the AMD Athlon MP Processor is featured in the more powerful Dunne 500 and 700 Series.

About the AMD Athlon™ XP Processor
The AMD Athlon XP processor features QuantiSpeed™ architecture, 384KB of on-chip, full-speed cache, and support for AMD's 3DNow!™ Professional instructions for enhanced multimedia capabilities. The AMD Athlon XP processor is compatible with AMD's Socket A infrastructure, and supports the advanced 266 or 333 front-side bus (FSB). AMD Athlon XP processors are manufactured using AMD's 0.13 micron copper process technology in Fab 30 in Dresden, Germany.
