AMD today announced that the Spring 2001 Team AMD Tech Tour, a series of complimentary seminars held in 17 cities across North America that guides system builders on AMD's latest technology, begins tomorrow in Tampa, Fla. Building on the highly successful and popular AMD Reseller Seminar Series, the tour supports the AMD System Builder Program, showcases many technology vendors in an expanded vendor fair, and offers additional support and guidance on a full range of AMD programs and products, including the award-winning AMD Athlon™ and AMD Duron™ processors. The AMD Tech Tour targets PC system builders, including owners, managers, technicians and sales and marketing professionals who use, sell, or promote AMD products and technology.
"The goal of the tour is to share information on new AMD products and technologies, and guide system builders how to more effectively position and sell AMD's products to their valued customers," said Lee Little, AMD's director of field marketing for the Americas. "We will provide clarity on the direction the PC Industry is going, and AMD's positioning relative to the competition in the marketplace. We have had tremendous response and support for the seminars during the past year, and the Spring 2001 Team AMD Tech Tour continues this momentum and support for AMD system builders."
In addition to AMD's presentations, the events will include presentations from platinum sponsors Microsoft, NVIDIA Corporation, and MSI, who will each introduce their own respective new product lines while demonstrating continued support for and compatibility with AMD processor technologies and platforms.
"Microsoft is pleased to sponsor AMD's Tech Tour, which extends the reach of our System Builder Program to new potential program members, and demonstrates our continued support of the system builder channel," said Mike Oldham, director of OEM sales, South Pacific and Americas Region. "We depend on leading manufacturers such as AMD to support our Windows® 2000 operating system as well as our next-generation Windows platform. They work with us to ensure compatibility and optimal performance between their components and our software and hardware."
"The Spring 2001 Team AMD Tech Tour continues AMD's excellent support of both resellers and end-users, and helps to answer all the hard questions concerning AMD products, support, and compatibility," said Michelle Smith, Channel Marketing Manager of NVIDIA Corporation.
"MSI is proud to be a sponsor of AMD's successful tech tour, as it has provided a great opportunity for us to reach out to resellers and system builders," said Calvin Wu, CEO of MSI.
The Spring 2001 Team AMD Tech Tour will also include a separate vendor fair that will feature other manufacturers and distributors. Sponsors Abit, Asus, Chaintech, DFI, FIC, Gigabyte, Kingston, Leadtek, Logitech, Matrox, NASBA, NEC/Mitsubishi, PC Treasures, Pine Technology, Seagate, Western Digital, and Viewsonic, along with distributors Avnet, Bell Micro, D&H, and Supercom Canada are expected to exhibit their products and programs that support AMD technology and the system builder channel.
AMD plans to conduct seminars in 17 cities across the U.S. and Canada, including Boston, Calgary, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Montreal, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, Sacramento, Seattle, Tampa, Toronto and Vancouver.
