AMD Athlon™ Processor Wins Microprocessor Report Analyst's Choice Award for Second Year in a Row

--AMD Athlon™ processor has now received over 70 awards--

SUNNYVALE, CA -- 1/19/2001 -- The AMD Athlon™ processor has won the Microprocessor Report Analyst's Choice for Best PC Processor at the prestigious Cahner's MicroDesign Resources Analyst Choice Awards 2001. The win marks the second consecutive year in which AMD has been recognized for having the best PC processor, and comes as AMD announced its most successful year ever on Wednesday.

"The AMD Athlon™ processor is the best balanced performance processor today, " said Kevin Krewell, Senior Analyst, Micro Design Resources. "It is competent, fast, consistent, and delivers world-class performance."

"AMD is happy to receive recognition from one of the most prestigious analyst groups in the industry," said Pat Moorhead, Vice President of Marketing at AMD's Computation Products Group. "As the world's first one gigahertz PC processor, the innovative AMD Athlon™ processor has established AMD as a leader in high performance PCs. This award is a testament to AMD's expertise in microprocessor design and engineering."

The Microprocessor Report Analyst's Choice Award is the latest in a series of honors given to AMD for the AMD Athlon™ processor. During the last calendar year the much decorated AMD Athlon™ processor won the "triple crown" of computing accolades, receiving Maximum PC magazine's "CPU of the Year Award" for 2001, PC World's "Product of the Year" in June 2000, and PC Magazine's Technical Excellence prize for Best Component in Hardware Category for 1999. The three publications have a combined circulation approaching three million readers.

The AMD Athlon™ processor has been a major factor in AMD's financial success. AMD continues to be a volume provider for PCs featuring speeds of one gigahertz or higher. It is planned that by the end of the current quarter, most AMD Athlon™ processors will be manufactured with clock speeds of one gigahertz or higher.

The AMD Athlon™ processor and AMD Athlon™ processor-based systems have received more than 70 awards worldwide. In addition, the AMD Duron™ processor, AMD's new solution for the value space market, has already earned 9 awards for its processor technology.
