AMD Announces Return Of Popular Reseller Seminar Series

The U.S.-Canada road show planned to hit 32 cities by year's end

SUNNYVALE, CA -- 8/21/2000 -- AMD announced today the resumption of its popular Reseller Seminar Series to update North American resellers about AMD's full range of products and programs, including the award-winning AMD Athlon™ and AMD Duron™ processors and the AMD Reseller Program.

The AMD Reseller Team, in conjunction with Computer Associates International (CA) and MSI™ Computer Corporation, is scheduled to visit 32 cities coast to coast between today's seminar in Atlanta and the year's final event, scheduled for Honolulu in mid-December.

"The AMD Reseller Seminar is a definite 'must-do' event," said Mike Stephen, owner of M. Stephen Contracting in Vancouver, British Columbia, who attended a seminar in May. "If you build, assemble, sell or support PCs, you owe it to yourself to become informed about the CPU marketplace. The AMD seminar is where you can ask AMD support personnel all the hard questions and see where AMD is going in relation to the competition and the x86 marketplace."

The four-hour training seminars, free-of-charge including dinner and gifts, are geared for PC System Builders including owners, managers, technicians and sales and marketing professionals. Members of the AMD Reseller Program brief participants on AMD's product plans, upcoming technologies, market opportunities, strategies regarding AMD's hardware and software partners and marketing programs for resellers.

Upcoming seminars in August include visits to Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland and Tampa. To register for a seminar and to obtain more information about the seminar series, please go to www.amd.com/reseller/seminar.

In the first half of the year, AMD conducted seminars in 33 cities across the U.S. and Canada, including Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Edison (New Jersey), Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Montreal, Newark, New York, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, St. Louis, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa, Vancouver and Washington, D.C.

"The response to our reseller outreach has been overwhelming," said Lee Little, AMD's Director of Field Marketing for the Americas. "Since the first round of seminars ended in June, we have launched a new version of the AMD Athlon processor with performance-enhancing full-speed cache memory and the new AMD Duron processor for the value space. In addition, we have a number of new products and technologies planned for release over the next year to share with our reseller partners."

"This is a great opportunity for resellers to learn about the power of AMD and Computer Associates solutions together. Computer Associates' desktop management solutions are an excellent combination with AMD's advanced solutions that lower total cost of ownership while increasing competitiveness," said Joe Pascal, CA business manager, desktop management solutions. "MSI Computer Corporation is proud to be a sponsor of AMD's Reseller Seminar Series," said Tricia Phng, MSI Marketing Coordinator. "Being part of the seminar series provides us the opportunity to reach out to our common target audience of resellers and system builders."
