ZT Group International today announced the A8000 series server supporting the AMD Opteron™ processor. Based on AMD64 technology, the A8000 series servers are designed to provide optimized x86-64 architecture and HyperTransport™ technology while maintaining backward compatibility to x86 32-bit applications. Utilizing the MSI-9131 server board, the A8000 provides excellent chipset performance and scalability for AMD64 architecture.
“With HyperTransport™ technology, the AMD Opteron processors and MSI motherboards will provide customers with improved performance, eased integration and increased graphics and data throughput,” said Larry Wu, Sales vice president of sales, MSI. HyperTransport technology will also help alleviate memory bottlenecks, improve bandwidth and reduce latency.”
“AMD and ZT Group are utilizing HyperTransport technology and AMD64 technology to create innovative, high-performance servers,” said Hiroyuki Nagatomi, director of system engineering, ZT Group. “Customers can optimize their current 32-bit applications while gradually transitioning over to a 64-bit environment.”
“ZT Group is creating a server system that can offer customers the flexibility and performance of the AMD64 architecture,” said Ben Williams, director, AMD's Server/Workstation Business Segment, AMD’s Computation Products Group. “The AMD Opteron processor offers increased performance, speed and reliability for the most demanding server systems.”
ZT Group plans to focus on the entry-level server market with one- and two-processor systems. Incorporating the AMD-8131™ chipset component and HyperTransport technology PCI-X tunnel that supports transfer rates of up to 4.8 gigabytes per second, the A8000 will provide excellent bandwidth for today’s server I/O technologies. In addition, the AMD-8111™ chipet component and HyperTransport technology I/O Hub can support up to 800 megabytes per second. The combination of these state-of-the-art technologies can help provide outstanding system performance improvements.
Designed with the mission-critical enterprise in mind, the A8000 1U Rackmount server supports 2 Hot-Swappable hard drives making it perfect for enterprise applications requiring the highest data integrity. Other features include support for up to 2GB of DDR333 ECC memory, a dual channel Ultra 320 SCSI controller, dual Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces, and ATI Rage XL graphic controller.
