Thermaltake Technology Announces AMD Opteron Processor Support
Taipei, Taiwan --
4/22/2003 --
Thermaltake Technology, a world-class heat sink manufacturer, announced today that its latest
Venus Series solution will fully support the AMD Opteron™ and the upcoming AMD Athlon™ 64 processors. Thermaltake has already finalized developing thermal solutions for the AMD64 technology platform that is scheduled to start hitting the market in the coming weeks.
Thermaltake Technology has consistently shown strong commitment to the AMD processor product line with its award-winning Volcano Series thermal solutions. Thermaltake will support the AMD Opteron processor with a team dedicated to develop a full product line for high-performance server and workstation solutions. “We are extremely proud to be able to work closely with AMD in developing our advanced thermal solution for this next generation processor,” said Kenny Lin, President of Thermaltake Technology.
“AMD Opteron processors and Venus Series heat sinks will help provide the reliability and performance our enterprise server and workstation customers demand,” said Rich Heye, vice president and general manager of AMD’s Microprocessor Business Unit. “Servers based on AMD Opteron processors will allow customers to optimize 32-bit application and while providing a simplified migration path to the power of 64-bit computing.”
AMD64 technology will allow enterprise IT leaders to preserve their investment by optimizing 32-bit performance in the near term, and seamlessly migrating to 64-bit applications when needed. Key AMD Opteron processor innovations such as an integrated memory controller and HyperTransport™ technology will increase overall performance by removing or reducing I/O bottlenecks, increasing bandwidth and reducing latency. The scalability, reliability and compatibility of AMD’s 64-bit technology can help provide significant cost savings.
Venus Series solutions were designed from the ground up in parallel with the design guidelines from AMD. “Every little detail from clip and retention frame to heat sink design and fan specification were rigorously tested and retested to help ensure that all parts will work seamlessly together,” said Michael Lee, R&D Director from Thermaltake Technology.
