AMD Patent is 10 Millionth Derwent Patent Recorded

AMD's Intellectual Property Productivity Ranks Among the Top Corporations in the World

SUNNYVALE, CA -- 10/24/2000 -- AMD and Derwent Information today announced that AMD's recent patent for an integrated circuit transistor has become the 10 millionth patent record to be added to Derwent Information's flagship database - the Derwent World Patents Index (Derwent WPI).

"AMD is one of the world's leaders in process technology," said Mark Houghton, Director for Integrated Products at Derwent. "Last year, they ranked 17th in the world in terms of U.S. patents awarded."

According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, patent applications have increased by more than 50% since 1992. Keeping abreast of patents awarded in the United States and across the globe is more crucial than ever. "The 10 millionth record marks a significant milestone," said AMD's Harry Wolin.

"That is now 10 million inventions, whose patent applications have been translated, abstracted, indexed and made searchable within Derwent WPI, providing thousands of companies from around the world with an excellent source of technical, scientific and business information."
