AMD Promotes Key Executives In Asia Pacific And EMEA

—Kazuo Sakai Becomes Group Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Asia Pacific— —Giuliano Meroni Becomes Group Vice President, Sales and Marketing, EMEA, and Worldwide Distribution—

SUNNYVALE, CA -- 4/23/2003 -- AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the promotion of two key sales executives in its Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions.

Kazuo Sakai has been named group vice president, sales and marketing, Asia Pacific. In this new role, Sakai-san will be responsible for AMD’s sales and marketing activities for the Asia Pacific region except China and Korea. His major coverage includes such countries as Japan, Taiwan, India, Singapore and Australia. Sakai-san most recently served as AMD’s vice president, sales and marketing, North Asia Pacific and president, AMD Japan. In addition to his expanded responsibilities for South Asia, Sakai-san will continue to serve as president, AMD Japan.

Giuliano Meroni has been appointed group vice president, sales and marketing, EMEA, and Worldwide Distribution. In this expanded position, Meroni will provide executive oversight for AMD’s worldwide distribution channel sales and strategy in addition to leading AMD’s EMEA sales and marketing activities. Meroni previously served as AMD’s vice president of sales and marketing, Europe.

Both executives will continue to report to Henri Richard, AMD group vice president of Worldwide Sales.
