Rapport Technologies Partners with AMD Alchemy™ Solutions to Give Developers Device Management Capability

Carrollton, TX -- 8/5/2003 -- Rapport Technologies, Inc., an emerging leader in building the intelligent device management industry, today announced its enabling software “Agent” is now ported to the AMD Alchemy™ Solutions Access Equipment Reference Design Kit (RDK). The RDK, a complete package that includes hardware and software solutions for developers, now counts intelligent device management among its broad spectrum of robust capabilities. The inclusion of the Rapport™ Device Management platform in the AMD Alchemy Solutions Access Equipment RDK will enable rapid development of a wide assortment of access equipment, including data- and voice-enabled wireless access points, gateways, routers/firewalls, and many other categories of devices. Rapport places a unique and innovative management tool in developers’ hands for adding control to a virtually endless array of new and existing access equipment.

“By supporting the AMD Alchemy Solutions Au1500™ processor, we have partnered with AMD to bring a complete development platform to our collective customers,” said silicon strategic alliance manager, Michael Warren, at Rapport Technologies headquarters in Carrollton, Texas. “With the addition of the Rapport platform to the Access Equipment RDK — another major effort in our leadership in embedded device management software — we are helping developers reduce operating costs for gateway and other access device service providers. Coupling the power of AMD technology with our unmatched experience in successfully managing hundreds of thousands of clients worldwide, Rapport Technologies is taking a giant step in promoting cost-effective ways of delivering universal management of wired and wireless intelligent devices from the center of the enterprise to the network’s edge.”

The Rapport Intelligent Device Management Option Completes the RDK Solution
Based on the Au1500 processor, and using Spansion™ MirrorBit™ Flash memory, AMD’s Access Equipment RDK is a modular reference design platform that allow customers to target multiple market segments, including wireless access points, 802.11x voice telephony, IAD, cable MTA, high-end routers with firewall and data security, and IP-PBX. The Rapport device management functionality is enabled with a key from Rapport.

“With Rapport’s scalable software enabled and in use, our RDK now offers our enterprise design customers a single solution to address a variety of access device markets,” said Phil Pompa, vice-president of Marketing for AMD’s Personal Connectivity Solutions Group. “The addition of the Rapport technology option delivers full-function control capability over the entire range of access devices. Our high-performance, low-power Au1500 processor meets our customer requests for higher throughput with total security and control, packaged as a complete and self-contained AMD solution.”

Device agnostic, bandwidth efficient and scalable to over 1 million clients, Rapport Device Management delivers the industry’s smallest device management agent at a mere 80KB, while managing every layer from BIOS to OS to applications to configurations. “Device control is now integral to today’s designers and developers, and incorporating our software in the AMD Alchemy Solutions Access Equipment RDK helps raise the bar in access equipment design,” said Rapport’s Warren. “Working with AMD, Rapport Technologies is helping designers to reduce development costs, speed the time to market, and enable intelligent device management to become an industry standard in access equipment. We are very excited to be a key player in design solutions.”
