Systemax Supports New Amd Athlon™ 64 Processors For Superior Home And Office Computing

Only Microsoft® Windows® Compatible 64-Bit PC Processor that Meets the Increasing Demands of Graphics and Digital Applications

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. -- 9/23/2003 -- Systemax (NYSE: SYX), a leading manufacturer and distributor of PCs and related computer products, today announced that it will support the new AMD Athlon™ 64 processor, the first 64-Bit PC processor that is fully Windows®-compatible. Based on the AMD64 architecture, the AMD Athlon 64 processor extends the industry-standard x86 instruction set that is the foundation of today’s computers, including everything from notebooks to the most powerful servers on the market.

The innovative AMD Athlon™ 64 processor effortlessly runs today’s popular 32-bit software and paves the way for an increasing number of independent software vendors that are optimizing their applications for 64-bit environments. It tackles the computing demands of large databases and data warehouse applications, such as financial and scientific modeling, as well as provides digital content creation capabilities in such applications as computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering, (CAD, CAM, and CAE), digital music production, video editing, and real-time media streaming solutions.

“Systemax PCs have always featured the latest cutting edge technology to meet the diverse power and performance needs of our business and consumer clients,” says Sean Aryai, Director, OEM Marketing, Systemax, Inc. “The new AMD Athlon 64 processor helps to further enhance the superior capabilities of Systemax PCs to deliver an exceptional computing experience for both professional and home use. We welcome our continued, successful relationship with AMD and look forward to helping our customers benefit from the innovative AMD64 technology.”

“The personal computing experience is changing at every level, becoming more interactive with better graphics and more digital media,” said Tim Wright, director, desktop marketing, AMD’s Computation Products Group. “The AMD Athlon 64 processor offers outstanding benefits to current computer users, while leaving ample ‘headroom’ to meet the increasingly complex technological needs of tomorrow’s database, graphics and digital media programs. Our collaboration with Systemax is delivering tremendous benefits to consumers and business.”
