Spansion™ Flash Memory Products Honored With Bosch’s Top Supplier Award

SUNNYVALE, CA -- 10/14/2003 -- AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the company has received the top semiconductor supplier award from Robert Bosch GmbH for the period 2001-2002. The award was presented to AMD for delivering outstanding performance, quality, and reliability on products from its Spansion™ Flash memory product portfolio.

In July, AMD launched a new Flash memory joint venture with Fujitsu. The new company, FASL LLC, markets its solutions under the Spansion brand name, with products available worldwide from AMD and Fujitsu.

The Bosch award program recognizes 60 companies chosen from a worldwide supplier base, and awards are presented every two years. AMD was the only semiconductor company to receive this honor. Bosch deploys Spansion Flash memory products in most of their business units and applications, especially for advanced automotive engine management and transmission control units in addition to navigation and telematic systems. AMD is a preferred supplier to the Bosch Group worldwide for Flash memory products.

“We’re proud to be recognized for this prestigious award from a company that is admired around the world for its industry-leading quality and technology,” said Mike Van Buskirk, Vice President, Engineering, FASL LLC, who accepted the award on AMD’s behalf in Bamberg, Germany. “We are honored to be a valued supplier to Bosch. Together we are defining and driving the development of next-generation engine management and automotive components.”

As part of its commitment to Bosch and the automotive industry, AMD delivers outstanding levels of reliability in its Spansion Flash memory products.

“Bosch’s reputation for innovation and quality requires superior technology, performance and reliability,” added Van Buskirk. “Spansion solutions from AMD deliver in each of these areas. The sophisticated Flash memory technologies incorporated in Spansion products enable Bosch to deliver cost-effective systems that feature industry-leading performance. We’re proud of the long-term, strategic relationship with an industry leader like Robert Bosch, GmbH.”

This is the second consecutive award from Bosch recognizing AMD for its award-winning Flash memory products. AMD was previously recognized with this award by Bosch in 2001 for supplying outstanding Flash memory products during 1999-2000.
