AMD Names James Doran Vice President and General Manager of Dresden Operation
SUNNYVALE, CA --

AMD today announced the appointment of James E. Doran, 51, as vice president and general manager of AMD Saxony Manufacturing GmbH (Fab 30) in Dresden, Germany. Previously, Doran was vice president, Fab 25 and Submicron Development Center (SDC) Operations. Doran will report to Gary Heerssen, group vice president of AMD's Wafer Fab Group.
"Jim has played a key role in the success of AMD's manufacturing operations," Heerssen said. "He has a proven track record at AMD and has demonstrated the ability to build a strong operation that can effectively manage our accelerated pace of change."
W.J. Sanders III, AMD chairman and chief executive officer, stated, "Under Jim's leadership, we will be able to further strengthen our team in Dresden. We are entering the next phase of growth at Fab 30. Jim has proven his ability to run a world-class organization and is the right leader with the right skills as we begin ramping our production capabilities in Dresden."
Doran replaces Jack L. Saltich, who resigned to pursue another opportunity.
Doran has been with AMD since 1990. Prior to joining AMD, he was vice president of operations for Paradigm Semiconductor. He holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Northwestern University and a master's degree in physics from the University of Wisconsin.
