AMD Announces Grand Prize Winner of AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor High-Tech Treasure Hunt

SUNNYVALE, CA -- 11/25/2003 -- AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the grand prize winner of the AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor Las Vegas High-Tech Treasure Hunt at COMDEX 2003. AMD would like to congratulate Mitch Sakaishi of Folsom, Calif. who won an AMD Athlon 64 processor-based desktop system and a new global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver.

The interactive promotion sent more than 150 treasure hunters on a journey to find 15 locations in the greater Las Vegas area using only mapping coordinates and a GPS unit. The Treasure Hunt, geared towards AMD Athlon 64 processor enthusiasts, lasted for 64 hours and concluded on November 19, 2003. NVIDIA supported the promotion by providing giveaways to participants.

“Finding hidden treasure in the city of Las Vegas isn’t as easy as it may seem,” said Tim Wright, director, Desktop Marketing, Microprocessor Business Unit at AMD. “However, it’s easy to find outstanding next-generation PC performance with an AMD Athlon 64 processor-based system.”

The AMD Athlon 64 processor, which launched on September 23, 2003, is the industry’s only Windows®-compatible 64-bit PC processor. Providing access to unprecedented software performance for current applications and designed to run next-generation software, the AMD Athlon 64 processor can enable users to experience movie-like gaming and prepare for a new world of 3-D interactive games and digital media.
