Penguin Computing® Expands Opteron™ Product Line
Two new 1U dual processor Opteron servers and a dual processor workstation to debut at LinuxWorld Expo.
New York, NY --
Penguin Computing today announced three new AMD® (NYSE:AMD) Opteron 32-bit/64-bit platforms at LinuxWorld Expo (Booth #865). The new platforms are the Altus 1100, a dual processor 1U server/cluster compute node with Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives; the Altus 1200, a dual processor 1U server/cluster compute node with SCSI hard drives; and the Tempest 2100, a dual processor high-performance workstation.
Penguin Computing’s Opteron-based platforms offer the processing power and memory addressing advantages of 64-bit systems while simultaneously offering native compatibility with existing 32-bit software. These products round out Penguin Computing’s existing Opteron product line, which currently includes the Altus 1000E, a 1U dual processor server with IDE hard drives, the Altus 3200 3U dual processor server/cluster head node and the Altus 4200 4U quad processor high-capacity server.
Penguin Computing is demonstrating its full line of Opteron rack-mounted products in a cluster running the new 64-bit version of Scyld Beowulf at LinuxWorld Expo. Penguin Computing is also demonstrating the Tempest 2100 workstation in AMD’s booth (Booth #413).
"Penguin Computing’s Opteron-based product line provides a wide variety of options fulfilling customer needs for high performance 32-bit / 64-bit systems," said James Carrington, director of product marketing at Penguin Computing. "Initial customer response to Opteron has been outstanding and we look forward to the continued growth of this product line."
