AMD Takes Next Step in Commercial PC Market with Unveiling of Reseller Premier Partner Program
SUNNYVALE, CA --
3/9/1999 --
AMD (NYSE: AMD) today introduced the Premier Partner Program which is designed to facilitate resellers with targeting the commercial sector of the personal computer market. The program is built around an easy-to-use web site and offers on-line sales leads, the company's unique Traffic Builder program, quick access for ordering collateral and communications tool kits, one-on-one support specialists, marketing planning services, and training.
"AMD has altered the landscape of the retail PC market, and consumers are grateful for the competition. Now we're taking deliberate and well-timed steps into the commercial PC market. The Premier Partner program hits the bull's eye in responding to resellers' requests for effective, yet simple programs," said Dave Sheffler, AMD vice president of sales and marketing for the Americas. "Our goal is to assist resellers to build their business on AMD's proven and reliable products. This ultimately means more competitive products for the reseller."
After months of research and individual feedback from over 400 key resellers, AMD designed the program to incorporate their most frequently requested features, while keeping the program flexible to meet the needs of the individual reseller. Components of the program include:
On-line Sales Leads:
Resellers will have on-line access to sales leads generated by AMD demand-creation programs. The leads are tailored to the reseller's local market. In addition, the reseller is entitled to a listing on AMD's main web site for future referrals.
Traffic Builder Program:
AMD is generating an array of colorful, eye-catching promotional materials. In less than 30 minutes, resellers can log on to the web site, view samples, select those best targeted to their customers, and generate a mass mailing to their customers. The materials are personalized with the reseller's message and co-branded with the reseller's logo. Promotional vehicles vary in format from newsletters to postcards and highlight an offer that drives AMD sales for resellers.
Quick Access for Ordering Collateral:
Premier Partners receive collateral updates, including colorful banners, Premier point-of-sale and training kits.
AMD Communications Kit:
AMD will supply a communications kit to create attractive and informative advertising and marketing collateral to support the reseller's business objectives.
Strategic Marketing Planning:
AMD will absorb the cost of an initial consultation for resellers to meet with a marketing consultant regarding their individual marketing strategies. AMD is also offering personalized, one-on-one planning services with in-house marketing experts.
One-on-one Support Specialists:
An AMD representative will be assigned to each reseller to assist them on a continuing, day-to-day basis. The specialist will help guide the reseller through new program features, solve technical questions, and help with the individual reseller needs.
Special Opportunities:
Premier Partners will have a chance to participate in focused events and promotions, such as seminars and meetings, in-store training, discount and sample programs, and AMD joint-marketing programs.
The easy-to-use web site is the cornerstone of the program and allows a timely and valuable exchange of information between resellers and AMD. Premier Partners are also presented with a notebook that works hand-in-hand with the web site and helps them navigate through the site and the program's many features. Testing of the program has already drawn hundreds of users.
"The most powerful tool we can give resellers is information - this means leads, marketing strategies, and training," said Jim Niekamp, reseller channel marketing manager. "We've taken great care to respond to individual reseller needs. The elements of the program can be used easily and fit like a glove."
