(N. Billerica Ma). Electronic Business Solutions, N Billerica, Mass., announced that their entire range of HLS computer platforms powered by AMD64 processors are now available for shipment and fully optimized to utilize the features and improvements found in Sun Microsystems’ new Solaris 10 operating system.
“Solaris 10 takes full advantage of AMD64 technology with Direct Connect Architecture to achieve the performance benefits from 64-bit computing in our High Performance, Lower Cost, Secure (HLS) systems,” said Richard Anderson, chief technology officer of Electronic Business Solutions. “This allows us to break through the 4 gigabyte memory barrier for faster computations, as well as run mainframe-level enterprise and scientific applications.”
“EBS has been developing hardware solutions that will allow us to bring this enterprise-class operating system to client systems and anywhere else in an organization,” stated Fran Oh, the CEO of EBS. “Our close relationships with Sun and AMD allowed us to develop platforms offering security at revolutionary performance and prices.”
The Electronic Business Solutions HLS series of computing platforms consists of single- and dual-processor workstations, dual- and quad-processor rack-mount servers, Solarblade servers with up to 208 processors in a single configuration, and the Rugged Laptop which meets Military Standard-810E for high & low temperature, humidity, vibration, shock, and waterproofing requirements.
“With the power of AMD Opteron™ processor-based systems, EBS customers can realize the benefits of an enterprise-class Solaris 10 computing environment that scales to tap 64-bit technology without sacrificing 32-bit performance,” said Pat Patla, director, Server/Workstation Marketing, AMD.
Based on AMD64 technology, the HLS series utilizes SATA disk technology for improved price-performance standards. Platforms with multiple AMD Opteron processors with Direct Connect Architecture feature installation directly on the motherboard for enhanced throughput. The workstations utilize the NVIDIA high-performance graphic cards, providing the resolution and speed necessary in engineering, bioinformatics, medical and other simulation applications. Hardware support for RAID storage capabilities is standard in the dual-processor workstation. To learn more about AMD Opteron processors featuring Direct Connect Architecture, visit
