Angstrom Announces One of the First 16-core AMD Opteron™
Processor-based Blade Servers: The Titan64 OctaBlade™
Titan64 OctaBlade provides 128GB of memory capacity for database applications
BOSTON --
4/21/2005 --
Angstrom Microsystems, an AMD Opteron™ processor specialist company, is announcing one of the world's first blade servers running on eight Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors. These blade servers can be easily racked, providing cluster-friendly ease of deployment. The Titan64 OctaBlade is available immediately and will be on display at the AMD Opteron Anniversary Event in New York City, April 21, 2005.
A Titan64 OctaBlade rack is comprised of four stacked nests, each nest housing four OctaBlades for a total of 16 blades. Each blade is a four-processor cache coherent, shared memory (SMP) system with the option of SCSI, IDE, SATA HDDs and high-speed interconnects such as FiberChannel or Infiniband.
“Angstrom Microsystems is a leader in AMD Opteron processor-based systems and provides leading-edge server blade designs,” said Ben Williams, vice president, Commercial Sales and Marketing, AMD (NYSE: AMD). “The Titan64 OctaBlade with the Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor enables a new level of performance and scalability to those markets needing extra-large memory foot-prints.”
“AMD has once again taken the ‘pole-position’ with the introduction of the Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor,” said Lalit Jain, CEO of Angstrom Microsystems. “Angstrom is proud to announce enterprise-class database computing technology based on the 8P/16-core AMD Opteron processor-based blade design.”
