Linux Networx Offers Evolocity ® Systems with Dual-Core AMD Opteron™ Processors
Salt Lake City --
Linux Networx announces it will offer its Evolocity®
cluster systems with the option of using Dual-Core AMD Opteron™ processors. The new processors will provide increased processing capacity in the same amount of space with no change in power consumption or heat level and are ideally suited for multi-threaded and multi-tasking environments.
“Linux Networx customers require the most advanced technology available in the industry, and we believe that Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors will provide a substantial price/performance improvement for a variety of key applications,” said Eric Pitcher, vice president of technical marketing for Linux Networx. “We have deployed thousands of AMD Opteron processors in our Linux cluster systems with great success, and the advancement of this new technology will allow our customers to receive greater power management and efficiency in achieving their computational goals.”
Dual-core processors are the next evolution of AMD64’s Direct Connect Architecture and directly connect two cores on a single die, along with memory, I/O and dedicated caches to improve overall system performance and efficiency.
“Linux Networx has long provided advanced Linux cluster technology using AMD processors, and our partnership will continue to drive forward increased computing efficiency and performance,” said Pat Patla, director, Server/Workstation Marketing, Microprocessor Solutions Sector, AMD. “The reliability of Evolocity systems, coupled with the power of Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors, provides an ideal solution for demanding computing environments.”
