AMD Introduces 1.1GHz AMD Duron™ Processor for Mainstream PCs

AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced a new desktop processor for the mainstream PC market, the 1.1GHz AMD Duron™ processor with 3DNow!™ Professional technology, offering an ideal combination of performance and features.
The AMD Duron processor enhances the everyday computing experience for home and small- to medium-sized business PC users by delivering practical performance on photo, audio and Internet applications. The 1.1GHz AMD Duron processor, which includes 3DNow! Professional technology and hardware data pre-fetch support for enhanced multimedia experience and improved productivity, also is compatible with the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system.
“In addition to its continued success in the United States, the AMD Duron processor has been immensely successful around the globe. Systems based on AMD’s new processor are expected to be available in the fourth quarter through a variety of channels worldwide.
