AMD M780G Specifications

ATI Avivo™ HD3 Technology

Unified video decoder is a dedicated hardware block to decode and playback HD-DVD and Blu-ray content. Supports MPEG2, VC-1, and H.264 formats.

ATI Hybrid Graphics Technology1

ATI Hybrid Graphics allows both an ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 integrated graphics processor and a discrete graphics processor to work cooperatively yet independently of each other on an AMD based system to help provide better performance, productivity and power efficiency. Additionally, in systems operating under Windows Vista®, ATI Hybrid Graphics can provide the ability for an integrated graphics processor and a discrete graphics processor to work simultaneously for high performance or dynamically for additional power savings.

ATI Hybrid Graphics is an umbrella technology encompassing the four technologies below:

ATI Hybrid CrossFireX™2 Technology
Multi-GPU technology enabling an integrated graphics processor (ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 graphics) and a discrete graphics processor (ATI Radeon™ HD 2400 Series2, ATI Radeon™ HD 3400 Series or ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3400 Series) to simultaneously work together to boost 3D graphics performance in a Windows Vista® environment.

ATI SurroundView™ Technology
Provides support for four or more monitors when you combine an integrated graphics processor (AMD 780 chipset-based motherboard) with a discrete graphics processor (ATI Radeon™ HD 2400 Series2 or ATI Radeon™ HD 3000 Series). Each additional discrete graphics processor can provide support for two or more independent monitors. The integrated graphics processor and the discrete graphics processor work in parallel to drive multiple displays.

ATI PowerPlay™ Technology
Graphics power management technology enabling power saving profiles to help reduce power consumption when the graphics processor is idle or in minimal use.

ATI PowerXpress™ Technology
Ability to switch between using integrated graphics and discrete graphics.

Microsoft® DirectX®10

ATI's 2nd-generation Unified Shader Architecture creates efficient workload distribution and powers Microsoft® DirectX®10, one of the most recent versions of Microsoft's® DirectX® suite for 3D graphics, enabling a new generation of life-like visual effects.

PCI Express® 2.0

PCI Express® 2.0 provides twice the speed of the current PCI Express® 1.0.

Vari-Bright™ Technology

Technology optimizes notebook panel brightness to save power.

Connectivity

12 USB 2.0 ports for fast connectivity and two USB 1.0. Also incorporates six SATA ports including eSATA for transfer of data between a computer and storage devices.

Digital Outputs

DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI provide connectivity to next-generation media interfaces.

On-Chip HDCP

Unique key for HD video decode required for protected content playback.

Display Cache

Energy cache is dedicated memory used to refresh the screen when in idle mode. This eliminates the need for the CPU to access memory for this task, therefore allowing for the HyperTransport™ link to shut down.

  1. ATI Hybrid Graphics may not work with all ATI Radeon HD discrete graphics cards. Please check the AMD website for more details
  2. Number of installable cards subject to graphics card model and motherboard design and may require a specialized power supply
  3. This chipset supports a number of output protocols. The specific devices to which a given PC may be connected will depend on the configuration enabled by the motherboard manufacturer.

* WARNING AMD and ATI processors are intended to be operated only within their associated specifications and factory settings. Operating your AMD or ATI processor outside of specification or in excess of factory settings, including but not limited to overclocking, may damage your processor and/or lead to other problems, including but not limited to, damage to your system components (including your motherboard and components thereon (e.g. memory)), system instabilities (e.g. data loss and corrupted images), shortened processor, system component and/or system life and in extreme cases, total system failure. AMD does not provide support or service for issues or damages related to use of an AMD or ATI processor outside of processor specifications or in excess of factory settings. You may also not receive support or service from your system manufacturer. DAMAGES CAUSED BY USE OF YOUR AMD OR ATI PROCESSOR OUTSIDE OF SPECIFICATION OR IN EXCESS OF FACTORY SETTINGS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER YOUR AMD PRODUCT WARRANTY AND MAY NOT BE COVERED BY YOUR SYSTEM MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY.
