Radeon FreeSync technology introduced tear- and stutter-free gaming to displays for Radeon owners. Radeon FreeSync 2 raises the bar for gaming displays by requiring panel characteristics such as a large dynamic refresh rate range, low latency, and twice the perceptual color space of sRGB for better brightness and contrast. These enhanced properties will enable an exceptional user experience when playing HDR games, movies and other content.

Low Framerate Compensation (LFC)

LFC is an exciting new feature of Radeon Software that effectively extends the refresh rate range of many Radeon™ FreeSync displays, enabling pristinely smooth gaming down to 30 FPS or less. Many popular Radeon™ FreeSync-ready monitors automatically use LFC when Radeon Software Crimson Edition (or later) is installed.

  1. FreeSync is an AMD technology designed to eliminate stuttering and/or tearing in games and videos by locking a display’s refresh rate to the framerate of the graphics card. Monitor, AMD Radeon™ Graphics and/or AMD A-Series APU compliant with DisplayPort™ Adaptive-Sync required. AMD Catalyst™ 15.2 Beta (or newer) required. Adaptive refresh rates vary by display; check with your monitor manufacturer for specific capabilities.
  2. Based on manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of comparable displays featuring 27”/2560x1440/144Hz TN-type variable refresh panels: the ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q ($799 USD) with NVIDIA G-Sync vs. the BenQ XL2740Z with AMD FreeSync™ technology ($499 USD) as of 30 January, 2015.
