Included in EDK™ at no additional charge.

The Ethernet Lite MAC supports the IEEE Std. 802.3 Media Independent Interface (MII) to industry standard Physical Layer (PHY) devices and communicates to a processor via a Processor Local Bus (PLB) interface. The design provides a 10 Megabits per second (Mbps) and 100 Mbps (also known as Fast Ethernet) Interface. The goal is to provide the minimal functions necessary to provide an Ethernet interface with the least resources used.

PLB interface is based on PLB v4.6 specification
Memory mapped direct I/O interface to the transmit and receive data dual port memory
Media Independent Interface (MII) for connection to external 10/100 Mbps PHY transceivers
Independent internal 2K byte Tx and Rx dual port memory for holding data for one packet
Optional dual buffer memories, 4K byte ping-pong, for Tx and Rx

AMD Tri-Mode Ethernet MAC Supported Tool Versions

AMD offers the following Tri-Mode Ethernet MAC solutions:

Soft TEMAC Cores (licensed separately)
Hard TEMAC Blocks

The AMD Soft Tri-Mode Ethernet MAC cores must be licensed separately under either a Project or Site License.

Use the soft Tri-Mode Ethernet MAC cores:
- When targeting 7 Series devices, or
- When targeting Spartan™ family devices, or
- To add additional TEMAC blocks to designs which require more TEMACs than what is available as hard blocks on some AMD FPGA family devices.

* A Hardware Evaluation license for any of the IP cores above will enable you to parameterize, generate and instantiate these cores in your design. You will also be able to perform functional and timing simulation and generate a bitstream that you can use to download and configure your design in hardware.

The IP cores in this table will be fully functional in the programmed device for certain amount of time. After this time, the IP will "time out" (cease to function) and you will need to download and configure the FPGA again.
