Research into Global Impact

Turning European Research into Global Impact

While Europe boasts world-class AI research, global competitiveness demands more: deep technical expertise, compute infrastructure, and effective commercialization. Compute to Impact addresses this challenge by uniting top research institutions, industrial leaders, and infrastructure – bringing together the key components needed to turn innovation into real-world impact.

A Strategic Step for Europe’s Digital Sovereignty

This is more than a national effort. It’s a strategic investment in Europe’s long-term AI leadership – aiming to secure the region’s sovereignty and relevance in the global AI race. Compute to Impact is a cornerstone for building a future where Europe leads in both innovation and implementation.

Roadmap

The roadmap lays out how AMD Silo AI intends to build and scale AI systems capable of tackling problems that require high‑complexity R&D, massive compute and cutting‑edge research.

The workstreams are the three ways Finland can grasp its potential as a leading AI development hub globally: solving real-life problems in our strategic verticals, developing next‑generation foundational models and democratizing scalable compute everywhere. The initiative emphasizes open, collaborative development so that the AI development in Finland can be done faster and with greater ambition.

At its core, the roadmap is designed to overcome the two barriers that limit global AI progress today: the need for radically more capable models, and the need for radically more efficient computing to train and deploy them. Each workstream and strategic vertical have identified where the focus should be to best develop open, reusable and scalable technologies that can be deployed across domains and borders.
