Vivado™ Lab Edition is a compact, and standalone product targeted for use in the lab environments. It provides for programming and logic/serial IO debug of all Vivado supported devices. Lab Edition requires no certificate or activation license key.
Vivado Hardware Server enables Vivado™ Design tools to communicate with a remote target system.
Vivado™ ML 2021.1 and later versions require upgrading your license server tools to the Flex 11.17.2.1 versions.
The Vitis™ Embedded Development is a standalone embedded software development package for creating, building, debugging, optimizing, and downloading software applications for AMD FPGA processors. It includes a new Vitis IDE with its new backend Vitis Server, as well as the classic command line utilities such as hw_server, bootgen and program_flash.
Note: This release supports Versal™, Zynq™ MPSoC, Zynq 7000 and MicroBlaze™.
Embedded Platforms
Vitis 2026.1 provides ready-to-use embedded platforms for supported AMD evaluation boards. These platforms are available with a standard Vitis 2026.1 installation.
For new projects, use one of the EDF-based platforms:

PetaLinux-based platforms are planned for removal in Vitis 2027.1. For new designs, use the EDF-based platforms listed above.

Common Images
Common Images provide a prebuilt Linux kernel, rootfs, and sysroot for legacy PetaLinux-based platform development. You do not need to install PetaLinux Tools to use Common Images.
