How It Works

AMD MEXT begins by offloading cold memory pages to flash. The AMD MEXT AI engine leverages the power of AI to continually predict which pages in flash are likely to be requested by the application soon and transparently moves them back to DRAM—before the application even requests them. From the application’s point of view, all relevant memory pages are always findable in DRAM, helping maintain performance.

Once downloaded, AMD MEXT is installed with a single command. As long as the system meets requirements (i.e., a dedicated NVMe drive is present, and swap is disabled), the entire process from installation to deployment takes only a few minutes.

AMD MEXT requires two CPU cores: one for the AI Engine and one for the daemon. No GPU is required.

There are no network or firewall requirements.
