Radeon ProRender for Maya v2.5 Highlights

  • New Features
    • Added adaptive subdivision.  Adaptive subdivision allows the user to specify the size in pixels to subdivide to.  1 being to divide so faces are 1 pixel in size, and 2 would mean coarser subdivision.  (1 is recommended).  This will consider the size of the object in screen, so faraway objects will not over-subdivided.
    • Added support for sequence rendering.
    • Uber:  Added Refraction and reflection normal map.
    • Render settings are reorganized into tabs:  System (devices) / Sampling / Quality / Effects / AOVs
    • Settings are now separated in sampling and device selection for viewport vs final render.
    • Export of a sequence of .rpr format files is enabled
    • Added “Out Of Core” texture cache setting for viewport and material renders (set in size of system memory to use for cache). This will improve performance of viewport rendering with many textures.

ISV Certification Notes

  • Due to Maya-MtoA software issue Trac #3142, some Viewport Draw modes for stand-ins draw an infinite line. Workaround is to toggle the Viewport Draw Mode of the stand-in in the Attribute Editor.
  • Autodesk® Maya® 2017/2018 may show gray patch in playback in certain models due Maya issue Maya 41945. Workaround is to click on a different frame on timeline or to click on first frame.
