Join the Lemonade Developer Challenge
Feb 15, 2026
What is Lemonade?
Lemonade is AMD’s open, local first runtime and API layer for building and running AI applications directly on PCs. It provides a unified, OpenAI compatible API that lets developers run text, image, and speech models locally without managing hardware specific details or fragmented runtimes.
Lemonade is implemented in lightweight C++ and installs quickly across Windows, Linux, macOS, and Docker. At runtime, it automatically selects and configures optimized CPU, GPU, and NPU backends for each machine, allowing multiple models to run concurrently based on available system memory.
The platform supports multiple inference engines including llama.cpp, Ryzen AI, FastFlowLM, whisper.cpp, and Stable Diffusion, behind a single interface, so applications can scale across hardware without changing application logic. Beyond the CLI, Lemonade includes a desktop app for managing models, testing workflows like chat, image generation, and speech, and monitoring local inference from one place.
Lemonade is community driven and AMD optimized, with enterprise grade testing across AMD CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs. Its OpenAI API compatibility enables straightforward integration with existing developer tools and workflows, including IDEs, automation tools, and selfhosted AI platforms.
The Lemonade Challenge
Submit a cool project you’ve built or you’re building with Lemonade and if we love it, you may be eligible to receive an AMD HP Ryzen™ AI Max+ 395 (Strix Halo) laptop.
Build on any hardware you like, the focus is on impact on the local AI ecosystem. This is an open-source initiative, all submissions must allow project access under an open source license. Your participation helps AMD keep the Lemonade ecosystem open, accessible, and easy for developers everywhere to build on.
Challenge starts February 15, 2026, and continues until supplies are exhausted. Hurry, supply is limited!
Example submissions (pick one or come up with your own):
- Create a blog or a YouTube video showcasing your work with Lemonade
- Integrate Lemonade into an app/workflow and demo it
- Deepdive performance eval (methodology, metrics, results)
What we are looking for:
- Community impact (docs, clarity, usefulness)
- Technical depth & quality
- Creativity
How to Enter:
- Ensure you are a member of the AMD AI Developer Program
- Join the Lemonade Discord channel and follow along on #AMDDevChallenge for updates, support and more.
- Fill out the submission form found on the AMD AI Developer Program member site and share details about your project. Bonus points for recorded demos or links to work.
