This article provides general information about Radeon™ Super Resolution and how to configure it with AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition.
Overview
Radeon™ Super Resolution (RSR) is an in-driver upscaler powered by AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution (FSR) technology. RSR is designed to improve performance in thousands of games that lack integrated upscale technology. RSR applies high quality spatial upscaling in any game that runs in exclusive full screen or borderless full screen modes.
RSR will remain inactive until the games resolution falls below the monitors native resolution. In Games that support full screen exclusive mode, the user must lower the in-game resolution. For games that support borderless full screen, RSR will automatically lower your desktop resolution depending on the RSR settings.
RSR can be configured globally so the effects will be applied to all compatible games. It can also be separately customized for individual games using AMD Software application profiles.

Compatibility
RSR requires Windows® 10 / Windows® 11 based desktop systems with discrete AMD Radeon™ RX 5000 Series Graphics and later, select AMD Advantage systems with a full installation of AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 22.7.1 or later.
For games that have built-in support for AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution (FSR), it is recommended to use FSR as game specific optimizations may provide better upscaling results over RSR.
Certain gaming features in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition are mutually exclusive with RSR and cannot be enabled at the same time. For example, when RSR is enabled, AMD Software will automatically disable Radeon Chill, Radeon Image Sharpening, and Integer Scaling.
Note: The steps outlined in this article are based on AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.9.1 (Full Install) with an AMD Radeon™ RX 7900 XTX and the screenshots used are for illustrative purposes only. Depending on your system configuration, some options and settings may not be available to you or exactly as shown in the examples provided.

To globally enable RSR with AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, follow these steps:
- From the Taskbar, click on Start (Windows icon), type AMD Software, and select the app under best match.
- In AMD Software, enter "Graphics" into the search box (highlighted below), and click on the "Graphics Settings" result displayed.

- In Global Graphics, RSR is disabled by default. Switch the option to Enabled as shown below. This also enables GPU Scaling under Global Display, and the screen will go blank momentarily.

- On first use, a quick start guide should appear with instructions for configuring in-game settings to support and validate RSR functionality. Click Learn More to go through the quick start guide. The screenshots provided below follows the order of instructions contained in the guide.

- To configure RSR for individual games, navigate to the application profiles screen by choosing Gaming from the top menu, then Games from the sub-menu. Select the application profile for the desired game. For information on how to create an application profile with AMD Software, refer to article: Customize Graphics Settings with AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition

- By default, AMD Software automatically applies Global Graphics settings for RSR to the selected application profile on first use. Changing RSR setting in the application profile applies to the selected game only. The example below shows the application profile for The Last of Us™ Part 1 with RSR enabled.
