Error 174 – AMD Software Installer Cannot Continue Due to an Unsupported AMD Graphics Hardware Configuration

Possible Cause

AMD Software Installer detected an unsupported AMD Graphics hardware configuration on the system and terminated the installation. The AMD Software version being installed supports systems using AMD Graphics hardware configuration based on GCN Gen 4 and later architectures only.

Solution

Your system appears to be configured with an AMD Radeon Series Graphics product from an older architecture design such as the ones listed in the below:  

These graphics products are non-GCN based and have been moved to a legacy support model. The final beta and WHQL drivers released for these products are available via the links below:  

• AMD Radeon™ Software Crimson Edition 16.2.1 Beta for Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7 (32 & 64-Bit) 
• AMD Catalyst™ 15.7.1 Driver for Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7 (32 & 64-Bit)
