AMD Ryzen™ AI Developer Platform: Open, Ready, and Built for AI
Jul 06, 2026
The Ryzen™ AI developer platform is a Linux based solution intended for developers to have a reliable, familiar space to build AI solutions. It is intended to be an AI first, Linux second solution. Linux skills can be helpful for developers, but design decisions have been made to make AI accessible without needing to understand details of the low-level architecture of the software.
Fully configured curated software solutions have been preloaded in the operating system for being able to run inference tasks in minutes. LLM software is front and center, and some popular models are already included in the operating system.
A collection of playbooks has been produced to walk users through tasks of varying difficulties, showcasing the best solutions available.
Open Source
With conviction, AMD feels the best solutions are developed in the open. The user mode inference stack, kernel mode drivers and all layers in between are open source. They’re developed in their respective open-source communities which AMD participates in. The versions of all software selected for the Ryzen AI developer platform balance stability and performance which is designed to provide the best solution for users.
Ease of Use
The most popular software is pinned to the left of the screen. These are just defaults though. If a user finds themselves using software more frequently, it can be pinned there like other operating systems.
On bootup, the Ryzen AI Developer Center will launch which lets users manage the software lifecycle and system wide settings.
Hardware specific options are exposed in the developer center. For example, if a user wants to tune the amount of memory available to the GPU, there are sliders available.
If a user wants to turn on/off the light bar, it can be controlled.
Rollback
AMD provides and validates curated experiences in the form of playbooks for users to use. But the AI space moves incredibly fast. There are always going to be new models, new software, and new techniques that are released into the ecosystem.
As the platform is fully open – we encourage users to experiment. But we also provide a safety net. If something goes wrong, we offer a rollback to the last update from AMD or back to the factory image within the Ryzen AI Developer Center.
Etymology
The Ryzen AI developer platform has a heritage of the Debian project. Debian has a strong stance on pure open source, stable and secure solutions. This aligns well with the philosophy adopted for the Ryzen AI developer platform.
The developers who have worked on the Ryzen AI developer platform also contribute changes back to Debian for future Debian releases where relevant.
