FAQs

What is the AMD Developer Cloud?
The AMD Developer Cloud (ADC) provides developers and open-source contributors with access to powerful AMD Instinct™ MI300X GPUs through a third-party cloud website. Users can choose between two access options: pay-as-you-go or apply for complimentary hours.

What is Pay-As-You-Go Access?
For developers ready to start building on AMD Instinct GPUs immediately, pay-as-you-go access offers a fast and flexible option. Simply create a new third-party cloud, enter your payment information on a secure platform, and begin developing right away.

What is Complimentary AMD Credit?
AMD is offering an initial 25 hours of complimentary cloud credit to qualified developers who apply and are accepted.

For first time credit requests, AMD may provide an initial 25 hours or approximately $50 US worth of cloud credit. The complimentary 25 cloud credit hours for use on AMD Instinct MI300X GPUs on the AMD Developer Cloud may be granted to qualified developers in AMD’s sole discretion. Complimentary credit hours expire ten (10) days from the date of deposit in your developer cloud account.

To apply, visit the AMD Developer Cloud to link to a third-party cloud provider’s website and create a new account or log into an existing account to complete the "Request Credit" form. A valid credit card is required at the time of account creation and is required to access any complimentary cloud hours offered by AMD. If your request is approved, an initial 25 hours of cloud credit will be added to your account. If the application is denied, you can still access AMD Instinct™ GPUs using the pay-as-you-go option, or you can reapply for credit.

If you are granted complimentary credit hours for use on Instinct GPUs in the AMD Developer Cloud and your credit card expires or is not valid for any reason, you will lose access to the GPU(s) and the data on the GPU(s). Similarly, if complimentary credit hours are exhausted, you will lose access to the GPU, any and all data, and the AMD Developer Cloud. Complimentary AMD cloud credit applies only to use on AMD Instinct MI300X GPUs. Complimentary credit hours for attached volumes, object storage, or backups, if any, on the AMD Developer Cloud will not be offered. If a GPU Instance is powered off, you are still billed and/or credit hours will apply. Charges are incurred until the instance is destroyed.

To apply for an initial 25 complimentary credit hours from AMD, follow the instructions above. For questions, reach out to: devcloudrequests@amd.com

What is required to apply for complimentary credit for the AMD Developer Cloud?
The AMD Developer Cloud is intended for independent developers and open-source project contributors involved with ML, low-level programming, and AI applications development.

How are applicants awarded AMD complimentary cloud credit?
Cloud credit allocation on the AMD Developer Cloud is determined by AMD in its sole discretion, based on the intended use case (e.g., inference, training, finetuning), and a detailed description of how you plan to use the GPU credit.

When can I expect a response if I receive free credits?
If approved, credits will reach your account within 3 business days. Credits will appear on the “Home” page in the AMD Developer Cloud console.

What is the Instinct Evaluation Program?
The Instinct Evaluation Program allows our valued customers to test their AI models and workflows with the latest AMD Instinct™ GPUs within our ecosystem of cloud providers. Customers get limited access to AMD Instinct GPU capacity through our trusted cloud partners. This is a unique opportunity to experience the cutting-edge performance and efficiency of AMD Instinct GPUs, designed to accelerate your most demanding workloads.

What is required to apply for the Instinct Evaluation Program?
The program is intended for startups, enterprises, ISVs testing foundation models, and researchers to evaluate their AI & HPC workload requirements on AMD Instinct™ GPUs and AMD ROCm™ software stack through AMD partners.

How are applicants selected?
Applicants who do not meet the eligibility criteria are informed accordingly and provided with additional resources to learn more. Submissions are then evaluated by the business development team and, if a preferred cloud service provider (CSP) was not specified, routed to the most appropriate CSP based on the applicant’s use case.

When can I expect a response?
The AMD Instinct Evaluation Program team will reach out with a response to your inquiry within two weeks.

What is the AI & HPC Cluster?
The AI & HPC Cluster grantees will receive cloud access to high performance computing which could help to accelerate progress in their research. In addition, the research organizations and academic institutions will receive customized technical support and training and  are eligible to obtain AMD product discounts through the AMD Instinct™ Education & Research (AIER) Initiative. The HPC Fund also provides the researchers an opportunity to network with their peers and other esteemed research organizations that are part of the AMD HPC Fund network.

What is required to apply for the AMD AI & HPC Cluster?
To apply for the Cluster, applicants must agree to the Cluster Terms of Use, be part of a non-profit research or academic institution, and submit a clearly defined project that requires high-performance computing resources, including a specified duration for access. If approved, the default access duration is one year unless otherwise stated, and applicants must notify AMD of any related publications and complete an annual survey.

How are applicants selected for cloud-based grants?
An AMD internal cross-functional team reviews applications at the end of each quarter and scores them based on a set of selection criteria, including the impact of the research and need for GPU enabled computing. The prioritized list is then shared with leaders from AMD’s Advanced Research division for selection. driver for AMD to reach that goal.

When will applicants receive final decision notifications for their applications?
Proposal submissions will go through a quarterly review cycle and, if qualified and selected, applicants will be notified about the next steps to access the grant. To view your proposal status, please log in to your AMD University Program member portal and click on “History and Status.”  If you do not receive a response to your request, you can contact us (aup@amd.com) for more information. All requests are subject to review and approval. The AMD University Program reserves the right to limit donations or deny a request.
