This article provides instructions on how to install Radeon™ Pro Software on a Windows® based system. The content of this article is organized into the following sections:
For information about the system requirements please refer to the Radeon Pro Software release notes posted on the driver download page. System requirements may vary depending on the version of Windows® operating system installed.
Radeon Pro Software is available at AMD Drivers + Download Center. The site provides two options to locate and download the latest version of the Radeon Pro Software:
- Manually Select Your Driver: Use drop-down menus to identify your product and operating system to find the correct version of Radeon Pro Software that is compatible with your professional graphics product.
- Scroll to Bottom of the Page: Locate your product at the bottom of the page. Select your product and your operating system to go to the driver download page.
Ensure that any existing AMD graphics driver on the system is removed before installing a new driver package. Performing this step first prevents potential file conflicts which may corrupt the installation of new drivers.
For instructions on how to uninstall Radeon Pro Software please refer to KB article: How to Uninstall Radeon Pro Software from a Windows Based System
Note: Close all opened applications including anti-virus, firewall, remote-access, or webcam software before attempting the install process.
Once the Radeon Pro Software package has been downloaded, run the executable file to begin the installation.
The End User License Agreement will be presented at the start. Click on Accept and Install to move on to the next stage of installation or click on X to stop the installation and exit back to the Desktop.
The current driver version that is being installed will be shown.
Custom Install provides the option to select individual components and the folder for installation, as shown in the screenshot below.
Note: The Driver Options feature can only be enabled through Custom Install. See the user guide here.
Note: It is recommended to use the default destination folder for installation.
If another version of Radeon Pro Software is installed and detected during setup, a Clean Install option will be available on the Custom Install screen, as shown in the screenshot below.
Clean Install removes all prior versions of AMD graphics driver from the system. This prevents rolling back to a previously installed driver version (via Device Manager) but can resolve most corrupt driver installation problems.
Note: Since the system will be forced to reboot as part of clean installation, save any unsaved work before proceeding.
The software and driver installation will begin after clicking on Express Install, or Install/Clean Install within the Custom Install screen.
Once the driver installation is complete, an option to install Radeon™ Pro ReLive will be available. For more information about installing Radeon Pro ReLive please refer to user guide.
Once Radeon Pro Software has been successfully installed, choose Restart Now.
Note: A system restart is advised to complete the installation process. Before restarting, please save and exit out of any open applications.
