Free GPU Credits for AMD AI Developers: How to Claim AMD Cloud Compute Access
Jun 22, 2026
GPU compute is one of the biggest bottlenecks in modern AI development. Training and deploying large language models requires significant GPU infrastructure—often creating cost barriers for developers, startups, and researchers.
The AMD AI Developer Program removes this barrier by offering free cloud GPU credits that provide access to AMD Instinct™ GPUs or managed LLM inference platforms. These credits let you build, train, and deploy AI applications without upfront infrastructure costs.
How to Get Free AMD GPU Credits?
Once you've signed for the AMD AI Developer program and received your confirmation email, you can request your cloud credits in just a few steps.
- Step 1: Log in to the AMD AI Developer Program portal using your account credentials.
- Step 2: From your dashboard, navigate to "Member Perks" and click “Request Cloud Credits” to access developer benefits.
- Step 3: Complete the cloud credit request form with your details, including your affiliation, job function, intended use, and a public profile (LinkedIn, GitHub, etc) for verification.
- Step 4: Wait 2–3 business days for approval, after which credits will be issued and activation instructions sent via email.
Option 1: AMD Developer Cloud - Direct GPU Access
AMD Developer Cloud gives you bare-metal access to AMD Instinct™ GPUs instances, with no managed runtimes or abstraction layers between you and the hardware. The platform runs on AMD ROCm™ software: the open software stack covering drivers, compilers, libraries, and runtimes for GPU development. It's built to minimize migration effort from existing frameworks, and unlike proprietary stacks, there are no restrictions on how you customize your environment.
This is the right choice if you're training or fine-tuning models on proprietary datasets, benchmarking AMD Instinct hardware for your production environment, or running workloads that require specific system-level configurations that managed platforms don't allow.
Once approved, log in or create your AMD Developer Cloud account to activate. Credits expire 30 days after activation.
Option 2: Fireworks AI - Managed LLM Endpoint
Fireworks AI is a managed inference platform, you send an API request, it handles GPU provisioning, model deployment, scaling, and uptime. No DevOps, no infrastructure decisions. It exposes an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, so if you've built against OpenAI's API before, switching requires minimal code changes.
The platform runs on AMD Instinct GPUs and gives you access to a broad model library such as Llama, Mixtral, MiniMax, Kimi K, and more, covering chat, code generation, summarization, and RAG use cases out of the box. Members receive $50 in credits, valid for 90 days from issuance.
Developers building LLM-powered applications like chatbots, document pipelines, code assistants, RAG systems; who want to ship fast without managing compute. This is also a strong fit for teams evaluating models, since you can swap between them without touching your integration.
Once approved, create your Fireworks AI account to redeem. You'll be running inference on AMD Instinct hardware within minutes of setup.
Start Building Today!
Cloud credits are just the starting point. As an AMD AI Developer Program member, you're also tapping into a broader ecosystem; exclusive training, community support, and access to the latest AMD Instinct hardware as it becomes available. Whether you're an independent developer, part of a startup, or contributing to open source, the program is built to support where you are and where you're heading.
