Step 1: Determine if Your Product is Defective

Provided below are troubleshooting tips for issues often associated with improper installation /configuration of processor coolers (heatsink & fan). To verify whether your processor cooler is indeed defective, review the suggestions below and perform steps applicable to your issue only. For product quality and packaging issues such as, broken components, unusual fan noise, missing cables / accessories, proceed to Step 2: Information Required for Warranty Claims.

  • The cooler does not align to the retention frame or the cam lever on the cooler cannot be fully engaged, preventing a secure lock onto the motherboard.

  • The cooler is correctly mounted, but the RGB lighting (on certain coolers) does not turn on or the fan does not spin, or unable to reach speeds (RPM) to maintain stable temperature during heavy workloads.
    Please verify that the cable(s) from the cooler is connected to the correct RGB / fan headers on the motherboard. Also check that the RGB / fan profiles are properly configured in the system BIOS or 3rd party software (if any). Refer to the motherboard user manual for information on header connections and setting up RGB and fan profiles.
  • The cooler fan speed quickly ramps up as workload increases but the CPU temperature remains high.
    The cooler may not meet the TDP rating for the CPU or there could be an airflow issue inside the case / surrounding environment. Refer to the Cooler Solutions page for TDP & compatibility information, and watch the following video for airflow recommendations.
